Psyched About Logo Design!

They loved it!! I've been working here for nearly 7 months and I finally got to do my first big logo design! A lot of my work consists of printing off jobs that have been ordered or putting together wedding invitations, business card, flyers... ya know, stuff. While I enjoy it, this job has had me thrilled form the second in came into my inbox! I was recommend through another client I work with and that alone was enough to get my ego going. The client is opening a new business and needed a logo and came to me. Apparently I did something right, because they loved it! Now my logo will be displayed huge at the entrance to the building! I'm so excited and now I have a lot of work ahead of me since they plan on opening in 2 weeks and I have the whole business package plus some to design. This makes working worth it!

Worst Doctor's Appointment Ever

I've never had a problem with Preston's pediatrician before, but today about made me sick. They tested him for Lead today as a precaution since his sitter's house is built before 1960. I thought they'd just take a prick of blood from his finger. No! They came in with two small vials and a finger pricker. They actually pricked his finger and forced blood out and scrapped it into the vials!! I was so upset! I could hear the plastic rubbing on his fingers, grinding his skin away. After 5 minutes she had nothing more than a drop of blood in the first one. I was furious. Preston was clearly in pain. His hand was covered in blood and the nurse's gloves were too. Is this really the only way to get blood?! More of it was on their hands than in the vial! It took almost half an hour and she got less than 250ml each. I'm sure his finger is sore. After they finished she cleaned up the blood on his hand and you could see where they skin was ripped off his finger. It made me so mad. I don't ever want to do that again and will  not put him through that kind of pain again. If they need that much blood, they can use a needle.

No Patience

I've been on a roll all morning cleaning and organizing the house. I've managed to make the basement presentable! It's easy to get carried away with playing on the computer and then realize that Preston has destroyed the entire room. He pulls things off the shelves, hides stuff, and generally just makes a mess while Justin and I play on our computers. Of course we're keeping an eye on him too, just not realizing what he's doing until he's done it already...

So I stopped by Target an picked up some cute little cubby boxes for our cube shelf. I'm hoping this will prevent Preston from seeing objects that he could easily throw and tear off the shelf. I also bought him some clearance shirts for 2.50! Whoohoo!  He's growing like a weed and can use the cheap new clothes.

When I left for Target, my car registered the temperature at 28 degrees and on my way home it was 31! That means I can wash my car! Yay! I got so excited that when I got home I  grabbed the hose that's been sitting outside since last season and did a test spray. Frozen. Rats.  So I take it inside and drag it to basement in the tangled frozen mess that it's in. I start cracking the frozen water inside by twisting the hose in different directions. An ice chunk flew out!  I was thinking it would be a piece of cake to empty it of the ice and get outside and start washing the car. I'm sure it's above freezing by now. I could only get a few inches of the hose to drain the ice. All the little dings and bends in the hose is preventing the ice from coming out anymore. I spent a good 5 minutes blowing into one end of the hose trying to make the ice shoot out. All I got from that was a dizzy headache and sore cheeks. Stupid frozen hose. Why did we leave it out?? Oh, that's right, we were too lazy. Ugh. So now I'm waiting very impatiently for the hose to thaw out before Preston wakes up from his nap so I can wash my pretty car that's covered in muck and salt that's eating away at my paint and metal.

Clumsy

He trips, he falls, he hits his head. Why can't he just stay on two feet? Preston is so clumsy! This morning he got in such a frenzy when he saw the refrigerator door open that he flung himself across the room and straight into the cabinet door. Though flying forward, he managed to hit the back of his head and get an instant goose egg. Then as I was gathering my lunch from the pantry, he rushed over to grab the raisins container and tripped over my foot and fell face first into the bottom wire rack! He scratched his chin open. He had been awake for about 10 minutes and already injured twice on my watch! Perhaps I can slow his clumsiness by having food set out for him before I bring him to the kitchen with me. The boy loves food and any opportunity to get some, he's there, whether he hurts him or not!

But I can't protect him forever. He's a free soul, doing what he wants when he wants, despite momma's stern warnings. You'd think I'd have the hospital emergency number on speed dial, but luckily he's pretty sturdy and bounces back from his falls quickly. His numerous daily falls. He may not be graceful, but at least he's cute :)

My awful sleepless night.

Last night was just so tiring! I felt like I was back at month 1 with Preston. I went to bed later than normal, closer to 11 because I was reading the final book of the Twilight series. (It's good! couldn't put it down!)

Preston woke up at 12 crying, so I got up and found his paci on the floor, gave it back to him and went back to bed.

At 2, Max was up scratching his fur--he's been doing this for about a month or more. I'm pretty sure he has allergies and I'm looking at some home remedies to help his scratching. It's so annoying. He scratches for a minute straight, sometimes longer, sounding like Thumper. It's so loud, that it then wakes Preston too. So I get up and give Preston his paci again and go back to bed.

At 3, my freakin' fire alarm battery died so it was beeping every 30 seconds! I wanted to scream. I had to get up and tear it off the ceiling and hide it under a stack of pillows and blankets in the spare room. I went back to bed and it was STILL beeping, just quieter.

At 4:30 Preston is back up crying again. Ugh! So I give him his paci again. This time when I get up I notice how chilly it feels. I quickly get under the blankets again, but my face feels like ice and it's uncomfortable to breath the cold air in. I throw the blanket off and swing my hand in the air. It's cold. I check the vent to see if Justin threw his pants on it or something. Nope. I go downstairs and Preston hears me walk by and starts crying again. My furnace said something funny on it, I couldn't really tell "LO", I was tired, but I knew it wasn't working. So I went back upstairs and grabbed Preston to put him in bed with us. He was cold too. Pretty soon he's snoring and I can't fall back asleep. He also wiggles and kicks in his sleep now, which is really annoying.

I finally fall back asleep at 6 and then my alarm sounds at 7. Ugh!!! I wanted more sleep!! I went straight to the furnace thing and I could read it better. It said "LO BAT" I replaced the batteries and waited for it to register the temperature in the house. It was 56 downstairs!! I imagine it was colder upstairs, the heat never reaches up there very well. So now I'm at work with circles under my eyes and I can't concentrate very well. I'm daydreaming of a warm bed. I hope tonight is better!

It's So Cold That...

It's so cold that when I started my car this morning, my new 07 had trouble starting! Then all my low tire pressure gauges started going off. I'm guessing that either A) the computer chip in my car doesn't run efficiently at -17 degrees and it needed to warm up before registering correctly or B) the cold actually condensed the air in my tires, making them flatter! My nose was instantly red when I walked out the door. All the school's here were closed so Justin was able to stay home today. Lucky guy. I left the little guy with him though! Haha! I have an important work event tonight, so let's hope all those customers make it!
